FEDERICO MACHEDA: DONCASTER ROVERS CAREER EXAMINED

Italian striker Federico Macheda was sent on loan to several clubs as a Manchester United player. Doncaster Rovers was one of those clubs and they were in the English Championship when Federico Macheda joined on loan from Manchester United.

Machedawas farmed out on loan to Doncaster Rovers on the back of loan moves to Italian Serie A outfit Sampdoria, English team Queens Park Rangers (QPR), and German team VfB Stuttgart. The Italian player played for Stuttgart and Doncaster Rovers in the same year but different seasons.

Doncaster Rovers signed Federico Macheda from Manchester United on loan for one month in September 2013. He played his first game against Watford in the league.The Italian came off the bench in the game against the Hornets for his debut in the colours of Doncaster Rovers. Macheda played the last half an hour as Watford ensured that his first game for Doncaster Rovers ended in defeat.

Macheda didn’t have to wait too much for his first goal in a Doncaster Rovers shirt. His debut goal for came five days after he signed for the club. He scored a brace for Doncaster Rovers against Nottingham Forest as the two teams shared four goals. His goals ensured that his team picked up at least one point. The striker followed his brace against Nottingham Forest up with the only goal of the game against rivals Sheffield Wednesday. Federico Macheda scored to give Doncaster Rovers a 1-0 win to take his tally to three goals in three games.

Federico Macheda returned to Manchester United after suffering a hamstring problem. He went back to Doncaster Rovers for a separate loan spellthat lasted till the end of 2013. He moved to Birmingham City on loan at the start of 2014 thus becoming the third Manchester United to make a loan move to the midlands club after Tyler Blackett and Tom Thorpe.
